Pretear is a 13 episode mahou shoujo (magical girl) anime. It's full name in Japanese is Shin Shirayuki Hime Densetsu (New Legend of Snow White Pretear translated into English). It is currently fansubbed, but also is available on DVD by ADV Productions.

Pretear centers around a young girl named Himeno Awayuki. It just happens her widowed father re-marries the richest woman in town, Natsue, and gains 2 step-daughters in the process, both of which want to have absolutely nothing to do with Himeno. Since Natsue owns the whole town, and her last name is changed to Awayuki, she re-names the town, to suit her new name. Himeno is shunned by most of the school, inclusing her step-sisters, feeling that her father only married Natsue for her wealth. Alone and upset, Himeno feels like she isn't needed in the world any longer.

Soon enough, Himeno meets the Liefe Knights, 7 young men (and boys XD) who are in need of her help. Apparently, an evil queen, Saihi is sucking all of the Liefe life energy) out of the world, leaving the Earth dry and lifeless. The Liefe Knights are here to see this doesn't happen, and in order to do that, they must have a Pretear. It just happens to be that Himeno is the very Pretear they've been searching for! The Pretear amplifies each of the Knight's special powers (For example, Hayate is the Knight of Wind and Sasame is the Knight of Sound), which helps them in their quest to save the world. All her problems in school and home could never compare to this! So, Himeno and the Liefe Knights try the very best they can to prevent Saihi from sucking the loveliness and greenery from the world.
