Hayate...When first he appears, he is cold and cruel, even to some of his closest friends. Due to his past experiences, he wishes not to be close to anyone. With the former Pretear, Takako, transforming into Saihi on account of his rejection of her love, he has a deep yearn to not repeat this sin with the current Pretear, Himeno, constantly pushing her away and letting her know of his intents. On the inside, though, he is quite a softie, not letting anyone know he secretly watches over Himeno for her safety. Hayate is very protective of the ones he cares about, and shows his affection by constantly picking on others, such as Himeno, using the nickname "Tulip-Head", because her hair looks like an upturned tulip ;) He puts on an outward shell of a harsh attitude in order to keep people at arms length, and not wanting to create more problems than he already made in the past.
